How To Make Money Writing About Things You Love!

When we were young, we were told that when we grew up we could be anything that we wanted.

This is actually the case, however, the majority of people end up spending their lives working somewhere that they don’t enjoy.

Or end up going into a career field that was more influenced by what others think and less about it aligning with their passion.

But what if I told you that you could Make Money Writing About Things You Love Online!

And I don’t mean extra pocket change or something would cover the cost of your morning coffee.

But a full-time income that could be used to replace your current one, or add an additional source.

You can make money writing about things you love by starting a blog or creating a website. It can become very lucrative if done correctly and the cost of starting one is minimal. It isn’t something that will make you a ton of money fast, but it can become a long term sustainable income if you put in the work.

Starting A Blog | Make Money Writing About Things You Love

The beauty of creating a Blog is that you can create one based around something that you are truly passionate about.

Making it easier for you to continue to put in the effort and writing articles even when you’re not seeing the results that you’d like because it isn’t something you’re doing out of force but because you actually enjoy it.

This will be really noticeable if you’re currently working somewhere that you don’t necessarily enjoy and you’re looking for ways to create an additional income so you can leave your current job or get out of the 9-5 rat race altogether.

Say you’re working all day when you come home naturally you’re going to want to decompress, relax, and enjoy yourself.

The chances of you putting a couple of hours into writing a blog post after working a long day are very little if it isn’t something that you actually enjoy speaking or thinking about.

But if you chose to start a website based around something you enjoy and love, that can actually become the way you relax and decompress from a long day.

Whether you’re interested in knitting sweaters for cats or building igloos you can create a blog based around literally anything you could imagine and everything in between. Some industries might be harder to make money compared to others, but it is still possible to create long term income from either.

The 2 Main Ways To Make Money Blogging

There are 2 main ways that you’ll be able to make money blogging.

Both will require you to be getting traffic to your website/blog will mean you’ll need to be ranking on Google.

For those of you that don’t know what Ranking On Google means, it is basically where you’ll create articles based around specific search terms in Google.

And when someone searches “How To Knit A Sweater For My Cat”, your blog post or article will appear at the top of the search results. (It doesn’t have to be #1 but on the first page is the goal)

When someone lands on your website there are 2 common ways that you’ll be able to generate revenue, the first would be Adsense, where Google will place advertisements throughout your site and you’ll be paid every time a visitor clicks on one of them.

The second is Affiliate Marketing, where you’ll have products listed throughout your site that are related to the industry that your blog is based around. Very similar to how cooking/recipe blogs have links to kitchen gadgets or pans that they used in their recipes.

As you could imagine, the more people that land on your site, the more revenue you’ll be able to generate. This applies for both of the following methods, I would recommend doing both or even find additional ways to add as well that way you’re not relying on a single source to generate income.

Method #1: Google Adsense

Google Adsense is where Google places advertisements throughout your blog and you’ll be paid every time that a visitor clicks on one of them from your site.

This is very similar to the way that content creators/people that have Youtube channels get paid from Ad revenue.

The amount that you’ll be paid will vary depending on the industry your blog is in.

And the Geographical location that the majority of your visitors are coming from.

The picture above is an example of a website in the business industry in with most of the visitors coming from North America.

With 250,000 Monthly visitors to your blog you could make more than most people do all year at their job, and as you can see that is just the beginning of the scale.

I know that seems like a crazy number, but it is easier to achieve than you think, as you write a lot of articles you’ll start ranking for more and more keywords.

And if you’re ranking for 50 search terms that are each getting 1,000 searches every day the number of visitors you have will really start to compound and add up.

Method #2: Affiliate Marketing

The second most common way that people monetize their blog is my personal favorite way of making money online, affiliate marketing.

This is basically where you promote someone else’s product and upon making a sale through a referral you’ll receive a commission.

The reason that this works so well with blogging is that you can find products that go well/enhance your pre-existing content vs having to craft and build a brand around a product.

Not that you couldn’t have a successful site based on reviewing products or building a brand around them.

There are millions of products that you could promote as an affiliate, ranking from things that would pay you pennies for every sale you made to a couple thousand for every sale.

It is also an amazing way to generate recurring income and income that becomes truly passive after your initial up-front work.

Also, almost anything sold on Amazon can be promoted as an affiliate, which means you can get paid for people purchasing products from somewhere they’re already buying things at no additional cost to the customer.

You can make a substantial amount of money throughout every industry blogging.

While some might be more profitable than others if you create a blog and a website that creates authority and ranks throughout various topics on Google, your talking about having a very valuable asset.

If you’ve been on Youtube or even Facebook lately and you’ve seen some of those people who are making massive amounts of money uploading videos, generating income through your blog is very similar and is the same type of pay structure.

A lot of the content creators on Youtube are being paid by Ad revenue (Google Adsense) Which is what you’re able to do with your blog, and earn the same amount of money without having to put your face and entire life on camera!

I’ve seen massive blogs make anywhere from $3,000 USD Per Month All The Way To $100k+ Per Month.

I am by no means saying that this can happen overnight, or starting a blog is a way for you to get rich quick. It is a valid way to create a long term sustainable income but it will take effort and time!

How Long Will It Take Before You Start Making Money?

This could vary greatly depending on what industry your blogging in.

If you already have a following on any form of social media, Youtube, or if you plan on driving any form of traffic to your blog other than ranking on Google.

For the sake of keeping things simple, let’s just assume that the only traffic source that you’re planning on doing, in the beginning, is SEO, (Search Engine Optimization)

Which is like I touched on previously throughout this article, ranking your blog posts for specific search terms.

For a brand new website, you could expect around 35 Weeks before Google even indexes your content.

This fact alone is why I see so many people who’re starting a blog fail.

They either stop writing and publishing content way before they really even have a chance to get onto the first pages of Google.

Or they quit after writing a couple of posts because it “Doesn’t Work”

The analogy I always like to make is to explain traffic from Search Engines like a snowball effect.

For months and tons of posts, you could see virtually ZERO Traffic, which at times can be very discouraging.

Spending an afternoon writing a 2,000-word article for no one to see it isn’t exactly motivating.

But once you start seeing traffic it really adds up and start to compound very quickly.

As soon as one post is ranking others will start to get views, as you have your articles linked to one another and you’re also no longer trying to convince Google to rank you.

You’re not going to have to re-wait that 35 weeks to see traffic every time you write a new post, this Is just something that is seen for brand new websites.

And the amount of time you’d have to wait to see visitors will vary depending on the industry 35 weeks is just an average.

It can be viewed as a waiting period, that Google uses to find out if you’re credible and know what you’re talking about.

If they didn’t have something like this in place anyone could start a website and rank it on Google and could be providing misinformation or not so ethical things.

Which would ultimately have the potential to ruin people’s lives and the credibility of Google’s search engines.

If you focused on writing 2 articles a week for the next 35 weeks you’d have 70 Blog Posts, which depending on the industry is more than enough to make a full-time income from your blog!
